The chair of Computational Linguistics at IMS, University of
Stuttgart, Germany, invites applications for one PhD position in
computational lexical semantics, available from June 1st. Salary is
according to the German TV-L 13/2 scale.

The candidate will contribute to a research project within the
Sonderforschungsbereich (collaborative research center) 732,
(http://www.uni-stuttgart.de/linguistik/sfb732/), "Incremental
Specification in Context". The project is situated at the interface
between lexical and compositional semantics, concentrating on the
development of corpus-based methods for modelling language meaning in
context.

Desired qualifications:
* Excellent university degree in Computational Linguistics 
  or relevant related subject
* Strong programming skills (preferably Java)
* Previous exposure to lexical semantics and statistical NLP

IMS (http://www.ims.uni-stuttgart.de) is a leading CL/NLP research
institution with four professors in different areas of NLP, a research
staff of 40 and an undergraduate program in CL. We offer the

resources. English is the working language; nevertheless, an ability
to speak, or willingness to learn, German is appreciated.
