The Centre for Natural Language Processing (CENTAL) at UCLouvain, in  
Belgium, has 2 job openings (post-doc & Research Engineer, contracts  
between 6 months and 2 years) within the framework of the Eurostars/ 
Eureka project "Biograph". This project brings together academic and  
industrial European partners (from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany  
and Luxembourg).

Job Description:

CENTAL is engaged in a research project aiming at developing a multi- 
purpose people search platform, based on multi-source biographical  
information extraction, offering multilingual search capabilities and  
allowing to search for people, not only by name but also by any kind  
of characteristics: technical skills, work experience, location...

The role of each selected candidate will be to participate in the  
development of a linguistics-based information extraction system and  
to contribute to the design of ontologies in the field of biography.  
He/she will work at the University of Louvain, in Louvain-la-Neuve, a  
nice modern city, located 30 kilometers away from Brussels. He/she  
will be part of the CENTAL team, a dynamic research team of 15 people,  
involved in various regional, national and international research  
projects in Natural Language Processing. He/she will benefit from the  
lab infrastructure and from a stimulating environment. He/she will  
work and stay in close contact with other researchers and professors  
of the lab as well as with the other organizations involved in the  
project.

The ideal candidate:
* has a PhD or Master in Computational linguistics, Linguistics or  
Computer science (or another close and relevant discipline);
* has good programming skills or experience in linguistic description  
for NLP;
* is interested in Natural Language Processing and has a tangible  
experience or knowledge of the field of Information Extraction,  
Semantic parsing or Ontologies;
* speaks English and French or Dutch;
* is a hard worker... has good team spirit!

Duration of the contract: between 6 months and 2 years
