[Corpora-List] R&D Opportunities in MT at DCU

The MT group at DCU (http://www.nclt.dcu.ie/mt/) has a number of R&D
vacancies to be filled with immediate effect given the award of the
EU-funded FP7 project PLUTO (Patent Language Translation Online):

These comprise one Post-doctoral research position and two Java Software
Development positions. The successful candidates will report to Prof.
Andy Way in the CNGL (http://www.cngl.ie) at DCU.

All positions are offered on a fixed-term contract basis to work in the
area of MT focused on cross-language search and translation of patent
and other Intellectual Property material.

The post-holders will be responsible for the following:

-- Specification, design and implementation of system components from
DCU's MATREX MT framework for use in the multi-partner PLUTO project
targeted at deploying novel search and translation technologies in a
specific document domain (patents).

-- Configuration and deployment of the MATREX MT framework in a grid
computing/cloud computing environment.

-- Specification, design and implementation of a range of file handling
and parsing modules as pre- and post- processing steps in the MT
framework.

-- Specification, design and implementation of user-facing tools for the
control and administration of the MT process including training the MT
system.

The successful applicants will work at the interface of both Translation
Memory and MT systems and with both statistical and hybrid rule-based MT
systems.

Experience and Skills Desired

The post-doctoral candidate have a strong background in statistical
modelling, NLP and MT. In addition, we would expect that post-doctoral
applicants would have a track record of publications in the area.

The programmers must possess excellent Java Software Development skills
and demonstrated commercial experience in Java software development.
Experience with software development in the area of machine learning,
statistical modelling, NLP or MT would be a significant advantage.
