The Division of Computational Linguistics in the Dept. of Linguistics
at the University of Tuebingen, Germany is searching for a


computational linguist


whose research experience complements existing strengths in the
department. While computational linguists working in any subarea of
the field are encouraged to apply, preference will be given to
candidates who specialize in one or more of the following areas:

- data-driven approaches to computational linguistics (esp. machine 
learning)
- computational lexicography
- distributional semantics
- statistical parsing

Knowledge of German and the Java programming language is highly desirable.
Duties for this post include independent research and participation in 
externally-funded,
on-going research projects. Further information about the department can

The starting date for the position is July 1, 2011.  The initial period 
of appointment
is until June 2014.

The position is at the rank of "Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter" (Ph.D. 
or M.A./M.Sc.
in computer science, computational linguistics or a related field is 
required).
For applicants with an M.A., the position offers the possibility of 
preparing a PhD thesis.
The salary is determined by the German civil servants standard 
(Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L).
The exact salary amount varies depending on experience and marital status.
