POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH POSITIONS (MT) AT THE CNGL: Application Deadline

Are you interested in working on collaborative European Projects on quality
estimation for Machine Translation and/or Interoperability Standards? Do
you want to advance the field of research in MT quality or are you
interested in building communities, connected systems and workflows? Do you
want to work in an innovative research environment?

At the CNGL we have a number of opportunities for postdoctoral researchers
working on the QTLaunchPad and MultilingualWeb-LT collaborative European
research projects (all contracts are for up to 2 years):


- POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER (Machine Translation Quality & Standards) at
CNGL, DUBLIN [€37,750 - €42,394]

Machine Translation technologies, including interoperability, standards,
integration of MT technologies into sophisticated content management
systems (including CMSs, Translation Memories), handling of mark-up and
meta-data annotations in MT, the link between MT and Open Linked Data (for
semantic modelling), as well as evaluation. Strong programming and
implementation skills are required. Knowledge of existing standards (e.g.
ITS, XLIFF, TMX) would present a distinct advantage.

- POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER (Machine Translation Quality) [€37,750 - €40,003]

Research on extending and improving existing MT quality estimation metrics
and methods, infrastructure development and the organisation of shared
tasks concerning MT evaluation, resource acquisition, and optimal MT system
selection based on quality boundaries.

- RESEARCH FELLOW (Machine Translation Community Mobilisation) [€44,930 -
€54,820]

MT community building, outreach, public relations, and international MT
challenge and workshop organisation and task evaluation. Job duties also
include coordination assistance for MT roadmap development, outreach to
varied MT stakeholder and user communities, including industrial, national,
and funding organisations in Europe. The post requires an experienced MT
researcher with a keen interest in longer term vision and mobilisation of
the MT community, strong organisational skills, strong communication skills
and willingness to engage in media activities.
