Dear Corpora members, I received a message about endangered languages= In the July '12 issue of National Geographic Magazine (pp. 60-93), there is an extensive article, illustrated with magnificent photos, about endangered languages and their cultures. The author is Russ Rymer, known for his book "Genie: a scientific tragedy". Languages discussed are Tuvan (Russia), Aka (India), Seri (Mexico), Euchee (Oklahoma) and Wintu (California). There is also a world map included showing languages at risk. Edith A. = In fact, I have several books in the Tuvinian language which I can send to USA and European libraries. I have been collecting the books in the Siberian and other world languages for 45 years. I've got a huge collection in about 300 Siberian languages and dialects. Two year ago I wrote to some 300 US and European universities if they are ready to accept some of the books. I received no answer either from LOC, or Harvard university library, or any other library in the USA or Europe. I have also send about 100 letters to the libraries in Russia, but in vain. It made me belive that the books in the endangered languages are not of interest to anybody. This is why, I am surprised that National Geographic Magazine published an article on the endangered languages. If any of the Corpora members happens to know which libraries, just let me know to my e-mail address: yutamb at mail.ru Looking forward to hearing from the libraries, Yuri Tambovtsev, Novosibirsk, Russia
