*Announcing: Two Fully-Funded Ph.D. Assistantships (Tuition, Benefits, and
Stipend) for Researching the Behavior of Individuals and Devices in Mobile
Crowd-Sensing Experiments*

 *University of Virginia*

The number and range of mobile crowd-sensing (MCS) experiments have grown
steadily in the past decade as a result of increased smartphone penetration
into the mobile communications market. Smartphones carry an increasingly
wide variety of hardware and software sensors, and they also support
sophisticated interactive applications capable of eliciting information
from users in a variety of ways. This advertisement is for two fully-funded
Ph.D. assistantship positions researching the behavior of individuals and
devices in MCS experiments.

We seek individuals who wish to pursue a Ph.D. focusing on the above topic.
Each of the assistantship positions is backed by two years of guaranteed
support including tuition, benefits (health care), and stipend, with
subsequent years being covered by teaching assistantships and/or pending
grants. All work will be carried out at the University of Virginia in
Charlottesville, Virginia, USA within the Department of Systems and
Information Engineering under the guidance of Assistant Professor Matthew
Gerber. Prof. Gerber currently leads a lab of seven M.S. and Ph.D. students
conducting research in socio-behavioral prediction, natural language
processing, and data mining generally. Ideal applicants will have high
potential for research and publication output. An M.S. degree is
advantageous but not required.

If interested, please send your current C.V., publications (if any), and
questions to msg8u at virginia.edu.
