University of Wolverhampton, School of Humanities, Languages and<BR>Social
Sciences invites applications for a Research Fellow in<BR>Computational
Linguistics. The successful candidate will work on an<BR>ESRC-funded project
whose objective is to develop an automatic system<BR>which will create research
databases automatically from web sites and<BR>emailing lists using techniques
from information extraction and NLP.<BR><BR>We are looking for candidates with
good programming skills (Perl, Java,<BR>or C) and familiarity with the Unix
environment. Background in Natural<BR>Language Processing, preferably with a PhD
or comparable research<BR>experience is desirable.Familiarity with / experience
in Information<BR>Extraction would be an advantage; as would familiarity with
machine<BR>learning techniques. The main roles of the new appointee will be
to<BR>develop and implement components of the system.<BR><BR>The successful
candidate is expected to start the job on 6 January 2003<BR>and the salary scale
is that of researcher B (£ 17,624 - £ 22, 948).<BR><BR>For further
