CALL FOR PAPERS<br>
A workshop on learner corpora will be held prior to Corpus<br>
Linguistics 2003, at Lancaster University, UK. The purpose<br>
of the workshop is to present the state of the art in <br>
learner corpus research and explore new directions in the <br>
design, development and applications of learner corpora in<br>
linguistic and language teaching/learning research.<br>
<br>
Papers are solicited concerning all aspects of learner <br>
corpora. Of particular interest are papers describing work<br>
in the following areas:<br>
<br>
- corpus-based studies of interlanguage development<br>
- contrastive analysis of L1 and L2 corpora (L1 influence;<br>
universal vs. L1-specific error analysis)<br>
- learner corpus building, encoding and annotation <br>
(error tagging)<br>
- development of language analysis tools designed for LC<br>
- applications of LC research in syllabus/materials <br>
development and testing<br>
- applications of LC research in SLA research<br>
- applications of LC research in developing teacher <br>
training programmes<br>

The workshop will present invited lectures, poster <br>
sessions, and panel discussions on these topics. The <br>
length will depend upon how much response we get.<br>
<br>
Abstracts of up to one page should be submitted to the <br>
Programme Committee by 20th Dec 2002 (Notice: Deadline <br>
extended). As well as an outline of the paper, the <br>
abstract should include the authors' names, affiliations, <br>
and contact addresses (including e-mail and fax numbers). <br>
Electronic submissions are welcome. <br>
