NLP (Natural Language Processing) and CALL (Computer-Assisted Language Learning) are two highly productive fields. Although both fields are concerned with the study of language, the links between them are still relatively tenuous and systems that integrate NLP methods and tools tend to be the exception rather than the rule and concern non-commercialised products. In view of this, initiatives need to be taken that will prompt meetings and encourage collaboration between these two worlds along the lines of past events organized within the framework of ATALA (<a href="http://www.atala.org/" eudora="autourl">www.atala.org</a>) or the EUROCALL « Language Processing » group ( <a href="http://siglp.eurocall-languages.org/" eudora="autourl">http://siglp.eurocall-languages.org/</a>). <br><br>
The workshop organized within the framework of TALN 2006 (<a href="http://www.taln.be/" eudora="autourl">http://www.taln.be/</a>) will allow researchers from NLP and CALL to present their research on the use of NLP in language learning and encourage exchanges and collaboration.<br><br>

This reduced fee (110 €) covers participation in the workshops and tutorial, lunch and the second volume of the TALN 2006 proceedings, which contains the papers presented during the workshops and tutorial. <br><br>

Le TAL (Traitement Automatique des Langues) et l'ALAO (Apprentissage des Langues Assisté par Ordinateur) sont deux domaines très productifs. Paradoxalement, ces deux domaines, pour lesquels la langue est au centre des préoccupations, semblent encore s'ignorer. Et pourtant, l'utilisation du TAL pour la conception des didacticiels des langues n'est pas une idée nouvelle. Cependant, les systèmes qui font appel au TAL restent encore marginaux et concernent, le plus souvent, des produits non commercialisés. Des initiatives doivent donc être prises pour provoquer les rencontres et susciter la collaboration entre ces deux mondes, comme ce fut le cas lors de journées de l'ATALA (<a href="http://www.atala.org/" eudora="autourl">www.atala.org</a>) ou dans le cadre du groupe «Language Processing» d'EUROCALL (<a href="http://siglp.eurocall-languages.org/" eudora="autourl">http://siglp.eurocall-languages.org/</a>). <br><br>
L'atelier que nous organisons dans le cadre du colloque TALN 2006 ( <a href="http://www.taln.be/" eudora="autourl">http://www.taln.be/</a> ) permettra aux chercheurs des domaines concernés de présenter leurs travaux dans le domaine de l'utilisation du TAL pour l'apprentissage des langues, de favoriser les échanges et les collaborations, de dégager une problématique commune, de cartographier les travaux - tant francophones qu'anglophones - du domaine, et d'ouvrir, si possible, de nouvelles pistes de recherche. <br><br>
