& Toulouse-Le Mirail University) by D. Bourigault, Y. Chudy and F.

"Les Voisins d'En Face" is an application which enables you to compare
the lexical properties (syntactic cooccurrents and distributional
neighbours) of french words over two corpora, 30 million words each : <br>
* a newspaper corpus made up of all the articles of the daily paper
"Le Monde" from december 1999 to december 2000. <br>
* a litterary corpus of 515 french 20th century novels from the
Frantext database (ATILF). <br>
<br>
For example, you may notice that the word "révolution" is similar to :<br>
* "changement" in the newspaper corpus (syntactic cooccurrents are
"opérer ~", "amorcer ~", "s'adapter à ~", etc.)<br>
* "attaque", "progrès", "miracle", "accident", "mariage" in the
litterary corpus (syntactic cooccurrents are "veille de ~", "croire à
~", "préparer ~", "lendemain de ~", etc.)<br>

Each corpus has been processed with the part-of-speech tagger
TreeTagger from <a href="http://www.ims.uni-stuttgart.de/">Stuttgart
University</a> and parsed by the <a
href="http://w3.univ-tlse2.fr:8880/erss/index.jsp?perso=bourigault&subURL=syntex.html">Syntex</a>
syntactic parser, designed by D. Bourigault at CLLE-ERSS research lab. <br>
