Bob, Check out the MRC Psycholinguistic Database <a href="http://www.psy.uwa.edu.au/mrcdatabase/uwa_mrc.htm">http://www.psy.uwa.edu.au/mrcdatabase/uwa_mrc.htm</a> They have a few categories for concreteness and abstractness along with human ratings for each of the selected words (in the thousands). I've used it successfully in a few studies.
