<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>CNGL is a DCU-led Science Foundation Ireland (SFI)
funded Centre <BR>for Science Engineering and Technology (Directed by Prof.
Josef <BR>van Genabith). CNGL conducts research on language technologies
<BR>(machine translation, speech recognition/synthesis), digital <BR>content
management technologies (adaptive hypermedia, IE/IR), <BR>their application in
localisation workflows, and language <BR>technology-focused software
engineering. CNGL is a €30M <BR>collaborative research centre that
involves collaboration <BR>between DCU, TCD, UCD, UL and industrial partners who
include <BR>world leaders in their respective fields.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Invent DCU is the commercialisation gateway for
Dublin City <BR>University (DCU). Invent manages the
protection and <BR>commercialisation of intellectual property for DCU through
<BR>technology transfer, licensing and the creation of spin-out
<BR>companies.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>We wish to recruit an Intellectual Property Manager
on a fixed <BR>term contract basis with primary responsibility for managing the
<BR>intellectual property generated in the Centre for Next Generation
<BR>Localisation (CNGL). <BR> </FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Duties and Responsibilities:</FONT></DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>The IP Manager will report to the CEO of Invent.
He/she will <BR>have primary responsibility for the identification, capture,
<BR>protection and commercialisation of intellectual property <BR>arising from
research activities within the CNGL and related <BR>interdisciplinary research
areas involving computer science. <BR>He/she will also work with other
Invent staff and CNGL partners <BR>to develop the full potential of IP through
appropriate commercial <BR>and licensing mechanisms in accordance with the
formal IP <BR>arrangements agreed between the
partners.<BR> <BR>Requirements:</FONT></DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>The IP Manager is a key post within Invent and CNGL
and the <BR>successful candidate will be expected to have the required
<BR>breadth of education, relevant experience and self confidence <BR>to have an
immediate impact in a leading computer science research <BR>centre by devising
and implementing procedures and practices that <BR>enhance the identification,
assessment and protection of intellectual <BR>property.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>The appointed person will have:</FONT></DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2> A post-graduate qualification in
computer science, computational <BR> linguistics, speech processing
or a related discipline, (such as <BR> language technology, machine
translation, speech, IR/IE, <BR> localisation), preferably to PhD
level.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2> An understanding and appreciation of
the IP issues arising in <BR> the context of academic research and
in particular computer <BR> software.<BR> <BR>
Ideally, some experience of intellectual property management, <BR>
including patenting, licensing and commercialisation gained in <BR>
an industrial setting.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV> </DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>
<DIV><BR>Salary Scale: Remuneration will be commensurate
with

qualifications and experience.</DIV>
