To research the next generation of sentiment-aware online applications<BR>
based upon blogs and social network sites. This is part of the EU funded<BR>
project CyberEmotions to develop methods to harness emotions expressed<BR>
online for use in future information technology applications.<BR>
<BR>
This exciting opportunity to be part of the future of software<BR>
development research involves data gathering from the web, sentiment<BR>
analysis on the downloaded data and the construction of applications<BR>
harnessing the power of online emotions. Two postdoctoral jobs are<BR>
available, each for two years in the first instance but with the<BR>
potential to be extended to four years. The expected start date is<BR>
February 1, 2009.<BR>
<BR>
The posts are suitable for someone with a PhD in computational<BR>
linguistics, information retrieval or data mining, ideally with a<BR>
specialism in opinion mining / sentiment analysis. PhDs in related<BR>
fields will be considered, as will applicants who have submitted their<BR>
PhD. The posts are initially for 2 years with a possible extension to 3<BR>
or 4 years, depending upon applicants' needs and satisfactory<BR>
achievement of project goals.<BR>

The successful applicants will be required to travel to project meetings<BR>
and workshops at various locations in Europe at least twice yearly, and<BR>
will need to collaborate and cooperate with academics in various other<BR>
European universities and from various disciplines.<BR>
