language studies and linguistics. Applicants will be selected according to
these criteria: position/degree, research project and country of home

mso-ansi-language:EN-US">Its main aim is to highten the awareness of future
researchers in the importance of a thorough and scientific sound use of
empirical data. The course will offer lectures in principles and methods of
data collection, and the students will learn to do annotation ranging from
transcription to grammatical tagging. The course will further show examples of how
good data collections, corpora, have been used for language research, and in
particular, for syntax. The staff are top scholars in linguistics and language
technology, plus technical staff from the UiO Text Laboratory.</span></p>
