CALL FOR APPLICATIONS<br><br>Resident Academic Full Time Posts in Human Language Technology at the Institute of Linguistics<br><br>Applications are invited for two full-time Resident Academic posts in the Institute of Linguistics of the University of Malta. This post is for an initial period of three years with the possibility of renewal subject to the needs of the University and subject to a one-year probationary period.<br>
<br>The posts are being issued as part of an ongoing effort by the Institute of Linguistics to establish a strong research and teaching base in Computational Linguistics and Cognitive Science, and are linked to the development of a new degree programme in Human Language Technology which spans all areas of computational linguistics and related disciplines, including experimental psycholinguistics and formal grammar.<br>
<br>The appointee will be required to contribute to the teaching, research and administration of the Institute of Linguistics, and as may be required by the University. The appointees will be required to start by September 2011.<br>
<br>The ideal candidates must be in possession of a Ph.D. or equivalent research based doctorate in Computational Linguistics, Cognitive Science or a related discipline, and have a demonstrable commitment to research. Teaching experience at tertiary level will be considered an asset. The appointees will be required to teach courses at all levels to students within the Institute of Linguistics and to students in other courses that require servicing by the Institute of Linguistics, and to contribute substantially to the development of the Institute research programmes.<br>
<br>Other essential qualifications are good communicative skills, the ability to work in a team, and experience in the teaching of one or more areas of Computational Linguistics and/or Cognitive Science. Preference will be given to applicants who are specialists in one or more of the following areas: Experimental Psycholinguistics, Natural Language Processing, Artificial Intelligence, Corpus Linguistics.<br>
