DeepTutor is a dialogue-based tutoring system focusing on training students on complex science topics. In particular, DeepTutor focuses on the domain of physics targeting the topics of force and motion, gravity, and atomic structure. The DeepTutor system integrates the recent framework of learning progressions with deep semantic and dialogue processing techniques and advanced tutoring strategies that address core problems with tutoring such as the illusion of mastery. Experience with technologies in the areas of human language processing, machine learning, and virtual agents are needed.
