The University of Bern (Faculty of the Humanities and Faculty of
Business, Economics &<br>
Social Sciences) invites applications for a full-time position of an
Assistant Professorship in<br>
Information Science. The assistant professorship, starting February
01, 2013, has an in-<br>
terdisciplinary approach and represents information science as a
comprehensive and inte-<br>
grating discipline in the emerging interfacultary competence network
Digital Information.<br>
Candidates should possess an outstanding academic qualification in
fields dealing with<br>
topics of the information sciences including disciplines like
information management, com-<br>
puter science, archival and library science, <b>computational
linguistics </b>or media and commu-<br>
nication sciences. The ability and willingness to interdisciplinary
research is essential. Re-<br>
search and teaching interests should cover topics on the potentials
and the impacts of cur-<br>
rent and future information and communication technology in a
political, social, economic<br>
and cultural context.<br>
The successful candidate is expected to offer teaching for students
of both faculties. The<br>
language of instruction is German, French and/or English. The
successful applicant should<br>
be able to speak German or up to acquire German language skills.<br>
The position requires a Ph.D. in Information Science or related
disciplines and an respect-<br>
