Position in Scientific Information Extraction and Summarization</span></b></p>

<p style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%" lang="EN-US">Applications
are invited for a 3-year Postdoc position in the area of Scientific Information
Extraction, Text Mining, and Summarization. Funding for the position arises
from a new collaborative 7<sup>th</sup> FP project from the European Commission
in the area of Computer Creativity (Technologies and scientific foundations in
the field of creativity). </span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%" lang="EN-US">The research
will be carried out at the Natural Language Processing research group (TALN) in
Barcelona under the supervision of Dr. Horacio Saggion as PI. </span></p>
<p><b><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%" lang="EN-US">Brief
Description of Work</span></b></p>
<p style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%" lang="EN-US">The project
will investigate supervised and semi-supervised techniques in natural language
processing (NLP) to develop an adaptable information extraction and
summarization system for scientific textual data. The research will contribute
with a NLP system able to extract and represent valuable information from
research papers and related documents. The work will contribute to the
development of an advanced Web-based system to support scientific creativity. <span> </span></span></p>
<p><b><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%" lang="EN-US">Requirements</span></b></p>
<p><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%" lang="EN-US">We are looking for a highly motivated individual with 3-5
years experience in the areas of text mining/information extraction and/or text
summarization and with a strong record of publications in major conferences and
journals.<span> </span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%" lang="EN-US">Applicants must have:</span></p>

working conditions</span></b></p>

yearly gross salary in the scale €33000-€37000 depending on qualifications and
