<div dir="ltr">The Department of Systems and Information Engineering (SIE) at the
University of Virginia invites applications for a data science lecturer
(non-tenure track) starting August 2014. The ideal candidate would be
an innovative data science educator with both teaching and applied
experience related to information systems and data-driven decision
modeling. In particular, the candidate should have experience working
at the intersection data storage for big data sets (e.g., MapReduce,
Hadoop), data analytics, and data visualization. S/he will play a
central role in integrating and modernizing the data science aspects of
the SIE undergraduate and graduate curricula through teaching courses,
assisting faculty in developing modules for their courses, and providing
strategic direction to the department. In particular, this integration
and modernization is aimed at supporting the planning of a multi-course
interdisciplinary program. This position is currently approved as a
three year appointment, with subsequent reappointments being contingent
on the outcome of the aforementioned planning effort.

<br>Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in engineering or
related field, with a demonstrated record of teaching excellence and
data science expertise. Candidates must submit a current C.V., a list of
