Second Joint European Summer University Culture &
Technology and CLARIN-D

We are happy to announce the second joint European Summer
University Culture & Technology and CLARIN-D, which will take
place in Leipzig from July 27 to August 7, 2015. As part of the
growing Digital Humanities community the summer university seeks
to bring together 60 (doctoral) students and (young) researchers
from different disciplines in the Humanities, Social Sciences and
Computer Sciences (and related areas) not only to learn together
and from one another but also to build up networks across
disciplines.
The program of the summer university will cover a broad spectrum
of application or research oriented topics within the framework of
Digital Humanities. The workshops range from courses in
stylometry, digital editing, XML-TEI encoding, structuring and
rendering, open Greek and Latin, spoken language and multimodal
corpora, crowdsourcing and spatial analysis in the Humanities,
Drupal and Digital Humanities projects, project management to a
course on corpus annotation and corpus analysis.
Small groups foster communication among participants and workshop
leaders and give room to address individual problems and
questions. The educational program is supplemented by lectures of
renowned researchers in the field of Digital Humanities, and
project presentations of participants.
If the educational program is the "brain" of the summer
university, the social program is the "heart" providing ample
chances for building networks which last longer than just the two
weeks!
We are also happy to announce that there will be quite a number of
scholarships.
Funding granted by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)
will allow to offer scholarships to alumni / alumnae of German
universities.
The University of Leipzig through its International Centre will
offer bursaries to participants coming from its Eastern European
and non-European partner universities.
CLARIN-D will offer a number of scholarships.
The Electronic Textual Cultures Lab at the University of Victoria
(etc) will sponsor tuition fellowships.
More information will become available in January 2015. Please
consult also the website of the school <a
