CFP: Argumentation and Truth

International Pragmatics Association Conference, 10-15 July, 2005, Riva del
Garda, Italy

We are soliciting papers for an special topic panel on

                                    Argumentation & Truth

for the upcoming 9th IPrA conference, Pragmatics and Philosophy.

Work is invited from all disciplinary perspectives on any intersection
between pragmatics and argumentation, and especially on the panel theme,
including:

- truth and the premises of argument;

- truth-creation as a function of argument;

- the genesis, extent and role of obligations of truthfulness in the
argumentative process;

- the interrelationship of theories of argument to theories of truth;

- treatments of truth and truthfulness in the history of argumentation
theory;

- the interrelationship of rhetoric to argumentation;

- the role of truth in persuasion

- the role of truth in multi-modal argumentation.

Please note that papers accepted by the panel organizers will receive a
second review by the conference organizers.  IPrA membership is required at
the time of submission to the conference.
