As probably happens to many of you, students and colleagues often ask
me a (brief) list of some introductory books on critical discourse
studies (CDS) -- as I prefer to call it, so as to suggest that we do
more than just 'analysis'. <br>
<br>
I attach a first draft of such a list, with the request to suggest some
more key publications you have found useful as general introduction and
orientation in CDS. For instance, I would like to include at least
also one key reference on discourse and sexism, and one on discourse
and racism -- as major areas of CDS.<br>
<br>
Once I have a more complete list (which obviously should not include
more than one or two dozen titles at most), I shall post it again on
the CRITICS-L list (and on my homepage), so that you all have a
practical bibliographical suggestion for those interested in CDS. <br>
<br>
For those of you for whom this is applicable: have a nice Easter/Spring
break: As you probably know, Easter is on the first sunday after the
first full moon after the spring equinox (march 20) on the Northern
hemisphere.<br>
