The research will be closely linked to the work of Dr Sarah Escott of the Bradford & Airedale NHS teaching PCT where bilingual simulated patients have been developed to help teach medical students how to maximise communication in consultations where formal, informal or telephone interpreters are used. Supervision will be provided jointly through Professor John Flowerdew (<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceType w:st="on">School</st1:PlaceType> of <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Education</st1:PlaceName></st1:place>) and Dr David Pearson (Academic Unit of Primary Care) with support from Dr Sarah Escott (Bradford & Airedale tPCT). The successful applicant is likely to hold a <B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">Masters in Linguistics</B>, <B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">Applied Linguistics</B> or other relevant discipline.
