Dear friends,

Although I urge others to use this list to announce their books on CDA
(the fastest way to know what each of us is doing!), I have so far
seldom taken advantage myself of this opportunity.

However, this is one of the exceptions: Those of you interested in
discursive racism and/or Latina America might want to know that we just
published an (edited) book, together with teams of experts of 8 Latin
American countries.

Racism and Discourse in Latin America.
Lanham, MD: Lexington Books, 2009.

This is a translation of the original version Racismo y Discurso en
América Latina (Barcelona, Gedisa, 2007), of which also a
portuguese version appeared, last year, with Contexto (São Paulo).

I mention this book on this list also as tribute to the enormous work
of the eight teams of researchers from linguistics and the social
sciences in Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina,
Chile and Peru. I am glad that the result of their research is now more
widely available internationally due to this translation.

As far as I know, this is the first book on discursive racism in Latin
America, and I hope it will stimulate much more research on this
important topic.

Warm regards
