and Humanities", led by Professor Johannes Angermuller (Centre for Applied Linguistics, University of Warwick) is looking for candidates for a funded PhD position at the crossroads of language and society. Against a background in linguistics and sociology,
DISCONEX studies academic discourse as a positioning and classifying practice of researchers, their everyday practices and tacit knowledges in the social sciences and humanities. By having recourse to qualitative methods and constructivist theories in social
research, the group places a particular emphasis on the social uses of academic publications in view of qualitative approaches to "academic excellence" (for more details <a href="http://www.johannes-angermuller.net/DISCONEX"><span style="color:#264759">http://www.johannes-angermuller.net/DISCONEX</span></a>,
another stipend will be available from the French partner institution, CEMS/EHESS, Paris). The PhD projects will be in the domain of the Social Sciences and Humanities Studies and should focus on the discursive and social dynamics among researchers in the
SSH (except economics) in the English-speaking and possibly French- or German-speaking worlds. The group will offer a vibrant intellectual atmosphere in an international setting.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
