<span style="font-size:12pt">Following the success of previous editions in Helsinki (2021), Stockholm</span><br>
<span style="font-size:12pt">(2024), and Leipzig (2025), Emerging Topics in Typology (ETT) will return for</span><br>
<span style="font-size:12pt">its fourth edition in 2026, this time at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz,</span><br>
<span style="font-size:12pt">from 15 to 17 July 2026!</span><br>
<span style="font-size:12pt"></span><br>
<span style="font-size:12pt">ETT is a conference organised by and for PhD students in linguistic typology and diversity linguistics.</span><br>
<span style="font-size:12pt">We welcome abstracts on a range of topics in quantitative and qualitative</span><br>
<span style="font-size:12pt">typology, language documentation and description, and particularly welcome</span><br>
<span style="font-size:12pt">talks on ongoing projects and works in progress. A core feature of ETT is its</span><br>
<span style="font-size:12pt">mentoring system. Each accepted talk is assigned a senior researcher with</span><br>
<span style="font-size:12pt">relevant expertise, who serves as a mentor and provides feedback to the</span><br>
<span style="font-size:12pt">speaker prior to the conference.</span><br>

<span style="font-size:12pt">Conference registration will be free for all participants, and will be open to</span><br>
<span style="font-size:12pt">anyone with an interest in the conference topics (including non-PhD students).</span><br>
<span style="font-size:12pt">Registration will open on 1 April 2026.</span><br>

<span style="font-size:12pt">Abstracts should be a maximum of 500 words (excluding references). Additional</span><br>
<span style="font-size:12pt">examples and figures (up to one A4 page in total) may also be included.</span><br>
<span style="font-size:12pt">Abstracts should clearly demonstrate a connection to typological and/or</span><br>
<span style="font-size:12pt">descriptive research. The call for abstracts is open to all currently enrolled</span><br>
<span style="font-size:12pt">doctoral students.</span><br>
