Introduction

Hi all,

As you can see from my 'signature' below, my discipline is linguistics.  I
am currently researching language use in police evidentiary interviews from
a Critical Discourse Analysis perspective (van Dijk 1997).  This research
will comprise my PhD thesis.

Much of the research in the area of police insitutional discourse is
carried out by academics in the disciplines of psychology or criminology,
so my approach has been necessarily interdisciplinary.

It would greatly enrich my study to find out more about how other
disciplines define 'discourse' and I look forward to such discussions here.
