[Mary Bucholtz]

I was approached by the public defender in charge of the case and he asked
me to view the videotape. He initially thought there might have been
problems with the interrogation because the suspect spoke African American
Vernacular English and the police officer didn't, but it turned out to be
a much more blatant issue--out-and-out mistranscription of the tape.
