there's enough of that going on over on phil-lit-

first it was re the 'oxford comma', j butler's contribution
to what she might have thought rendered her sentence
more readily intelligible, which was roundly scorned
and then discussed separate from j butler's use of same.

the popular thread at the moment is called
'best of Bhabha's worst'
but they are actually discussing
nonsense and tautology -
your guess as to where that originated.

there is some nice sarcasm going on re the 'nice
friendly man' Bhabha is said to be, just as
another bad writer from another list of the ten
worst novels of the century, melvyn bragg,
has been said to be...

in the face of all that learned commentary
i haven't time for any of my own,
nor do i feel qualified to do so...
except to say that
they chose REALLY good sentences.
