topic shift

In my introduction I mentioned that I was taking a discourse analysis class
as part of my doctoral program (my last class!). As part of the
requirements for the course, I have to do a half hour presentation about
topic shifts. I need to talk about various theoretical approaches, etc.
Can anyone here direct me to any texts, theorists, websites that deal with
this? The course deals specifically with casual conversation, so if anyone
knows any sources that deal with this topic in relationship to casual
conversation, that would be very help.

Thanks in advance,
Nancy
