"The Fifth International Symposium on Politeness" (30 June ? 2 July  
2010), Basel, Switzerland, is now open for registration,

The special theme for the Basel conference is ?Politeness and  
impoliteness, on- and offline? and thus focuses on language usage in  
computer-mediated communication (CMC).

CH; - Dr. Derek Bousfield, University of Central Lancashire, UK; - Dr.  
Alexandra Georgakopoulou, King?s College, London, UK; - Dr. Michael

Conditions for early registration are valid until 30 April 2010.
Presenters of papers and posters should register at the latest by 31 May 2010.

The conference fees include coffee breaks, lunch on three days and the  
conference material:

Early registration regular delegate: 180 Swiss francs (CHF)
Normal registration regular delegate: 210 Swiss francs (CHF)
Early registration student delegate: 150 Swiss francs (CHF)
Normal registration student delegate: 180 Swiss francs (CHF)

Conference for single days
Early registration regular delegate: 80 Swiss francs (CHF)
Normal registration regular delegate: 90 Swiss francs (CHF)
Early registration student delegate: 50 Swiss francs (CHF)
Normal registration student delegate: 60 Swiss francs (CHF)

The conference dinner is optional and costs 95 Swiss francs. You can  
register for it online as well. It will be held in a charming old  
guild hall in the heart of medieval Basel on the first night of the  
conference (Wednesday 30 June, 2010).

details on how to travel to Basel and offers a range of hotels at a  
special rate as well (see links on the left). Through Basel tourism,  
you can also register for an optional guided tour of Basel.
