just subscribed to DISCOURS, and therefore haven’t “found my
way” around yet. I’m and Assistant Lecturer (that is an MA
holding teaching assistant) at the English Dept., Faculty of
Arts, <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns =
"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place
w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Alexandria</st1:PlaceName>
<st1:PlaceType w:st="on">University</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>.
Currently I’m enrolled for a PhD degree at the same department,
entitled “A Linguistic Analysis of the Strategies of
Appropriation in Selected Postcolonial Novels”, where I mean to
undertake a CDA of four milestone postcolonial novels. My model
relies on Norman Fairclough’s work, so my main areas of research
in this respect are text linguistics, discourse analysis, the
relationship between language and ideology, etc. Outside the
framework of my dissertation I’m also an avid reader and
translator. I have already contributed a number of papers to
various conferences, and I enjoy my teaching. I guess that would
do for a brief intro. </FONT></P>
