There are a number of people in the forensic linguistics domain who work in the area of courtroom discourse. If you aren't already on the Int'l Association of Forensic Linguists' mailing list, you may want to log on and sift through the archives. You may find some helpful contacts there. Good luck with your work!

http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadmin?A0=forensic-linguistics

Sincerely,

Lorna Fadden

Dear all,

I am a Chilean Linguistics PhD student working on my thesis at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. In my work I intend to describe the prosecutors' and defendants' oral discourse, as they carry out their "closing arguments" within the recently established oral trials in our country. Methodologically, I approach these closing arguments from three different perspectives: a structural, a rethorical and a lexico-grammatical one. My general objective is to thoroughly describe this gender and to find out if there are any differences between the prosecutors' and defendants' closing arguments. In case differences are found, the nature of these differences will be established.

Best regards,

Claudia Araya
_________________________________________________________________
Invite your mail contacts to join your friends list with Windows Live Spaces.
