Hi,<br>
<br>
Unfortunately, there is -- as yet -- no introduction or a handbook of <font
color="#990000">discourse semantics</font>. There are only (often very
specialized and formal) studies of some properties of discourse meaning
and reference (anaphora, presupposition, topic and focus, coherence,
etc.). <br>
<br>
Since semantic discourse analysis is a very important field of
discourse studies, it is therefore hard to recommend students what to
read by way of introduction in this field.<br>
<br>
As a first step towards a (possible) practical guide to discourse
semantics, and aimed especially at students, I
have made a <a
href="http://www.discourses.org/Notions%20of%20Discourse%20Semantics.pdf">provisional
list of topics</a><a
href="http://www.discourses.org/Notions%20of%20Discourse%20Semantics.pdf">
in discourse semantics </a>that may
be dealt with in such a guide.<br>
<br>
<font color="#990000">My request to those of you interested in
discourse semantics is to have a look at this list and suggest other
entries for inclusion, or otherwise comment on the list and its items.</font><br>
<br>
Thanks in advance for your help.<br>
<br>
