From ff244 at MAIL.NYU.EDU Fri Sep 26 14:50:00 2003 From: ff244 at MAIL.NYU.EDU (Franca Ferrari) Date: Fri, 26 Sep 2003 10:50:00 -0400 Subject: question about inflection/derivation Message-ID: Dear All, My name is Franca and I am a Ph.D student at NYU. I would like to know if there exist some languages that have a stem that can be followed by two or more inflectional morphemes that are followed by a derivational marker. ex : 'stem+INFLECT+INFLECT+DERIVATION' I know that in Breton and in Dutch the combinations 'stem+INFLECT+DERIVATION' is attested, but I never recall any case such as the one above. Could someone help me by indicating me some data or his/her thought about it? We would very much appreciate your recommendations and nominations, not only of your own students but also of anyone that you think we should encourage to apply. As you may know, psycholinguistics is one of the areas of the department that are slated for growth. We may also have a senior appointment in the area in the near future. Our department is a pleasant and intellectually exciting place to be, and Delaware is one of the few research universities to come through the recent economic crisis as a stronger institution than it was prior to the crisis. Thus, salary, start-up, benefits etc. are VERY competitive here. We hope that you will share your thoughts about possible candidates with us and that you will encourage your students/colleague/postdoc etc. to apply. -- ____________________________________________________________________ Prof. Peter Cole Department of Linguistics University of Delaware Newark, DE 19716 USA 302-831-6829 (phone) 302-831-6896 (UD Linguistics fax) 503-217-8492 (e-fax personal fax [forwarded to me in my email]) pcole at udel.edu World Wide Web: http://www.ling.udel.edu/pcole/cole.html -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
