TESOL Symposium on Leadership

Initiating and Managing Changes in English Language Teaching

Leadership is central to the survival, growth, and prosperity of all
educational institutions. In this highly competitive, complex, and fast
changing world, leadership involves qualities beyond professional
knowledge and expertise. These qualities include the ability to move an
organization in the right direction by effectively understanding,
evaluating, initiating, and managing change.

Leaders need to be able to:

identify different leadership roles, talents, and styles appropriate for
diverse contexts facilitate systemic organizational learning, change, and
performance improvement apply new ideas for nurturing leadership capacity
in themselves and others.

The TESOL Symposium on Leadership offers an exciting opportunity for ELT
professionals to learn from and interact with three leading experts in the
field.

The speakers will share their work and research on leadership and English
language teaching to help you develop insights and skills. In the morning,
each speaker presents highlights of their work and perspectives on
leadership. Each speaker then leads an afternoon breakout session. During
the closing session, an additional leading expert summarizes the topic and
the speakers interact with the participants in a question and answer wrap
up. TESOL will publish and mail the speakers’ papers and final proceedings
to participants after the symposium.
