> Panel proposals are invited for the 37th annual Northeast Modern Language Association convention (Philadelphia, PA 3/1/06-3/5/06)  in all areas of the Modern Languages (English, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese, German); including American, British and Comparative Literature; Film, Drama, Composition, Pedagogy and related topics.  Panel proposers must be current (2005) NEMLA members, but can join via the NEMLA website or contact the Executive Director, Josephine McQuail.  Panel proposals may be submitted online after proposers join NEMLA and may also be found on the NEMLA website at <www.nemla.org> The NEMLA convention is juried and all panel proposals will be reviewed by the Executive Director and the NEMLA Board of Directors before approval is given.  Panel proposers should wait to ensure that their proposal gains approval before advertising their panel, and should read Guidelines for Panel Chairs carefully before proposing their panel. Our last convention in Cambridge, MA in April offered over 100 panels on various topics, involving around 500 participants, from the U.S., Canada, and many other nations.  It featured Harvard professor Leah Price as keynote speaker, a reading by former poet laureate Robert Pinsky, and a panel on American Protest literature with Paul Lauter of Trinity College, and Harvard Professors John Stauffer and Tim McCarthy (also at University of North Carolina), and Boston University's Howard Zinn, coordinated by Harvard Graduate Student Body President Zoe Trodd.  In addition, creative writers like Milena Moser and Spanish Dramatists Immaculada Alvear and Raúl Hernández Garrido gave readings.  We invite quali!
