The Society for the Anthropology of Europe is holding its thirteenth
annual student paper competition. One prize of $150 will be given for
the best undergraduate paper, and up to two prizes of $350 will be
awarded for graduate student papers.

Deadline for submissions is March 1, 2005.

SPECIFICS

Papers must deal with some aspect of European anthropology and/or
European anthropology's contribution to the broader field. This rule
will be interpreted liberally to include papers of a comparative and/or
theoretical nature.

All submissions must follow the standard anthropological format for
citations, endnotes, and "References Cited" as outlined in the American
Anthropologist style guide.

All manuscripts must be word processed or typed, double-spaced, with one
inch margins.

Maximum length for the body of the text is 10,000 words; the abstract,
tables, notes, and references may constitute additional pages.

Authors should include a title and also an abstract of 100 words or less
on the first page of the paper.

The author's name, mailing address, e-mail address, telephone number,
university affiliation and
academic status (undergraduate or graduate) should appear typed on a
cover sheet separate from the manuscript. The author's name should not
appear elsewhere on the manuscript.

Entries that do not conform to the above requirements will not be accepted.
Three hard copies of the manuscript and one cover sheet are to be
submitted to the Chair of the Adjudication Committee by March 1, 2005.
No late entries will be accepted. Entries may not be transmitted via fax
or email attachment.

One prize of $150 will be given for the best undergraduate paper and up
to two prizes of $350 each will be awarded to two of the best graduate
papers. In any one year, a prize may not be awarded at either the
undergraduate or graduate level.

All entries should be sent to the following address. Inquiries about
