I ran across a book review in the TESOL Quarterly (Vol. 32, Number 4, Winter 1998)for an Intermediate Level Ttext, Discovering American Culture, by Cheryl L. Delk (1997--a Univ. of Michigan series for theme-based content instruction). The review was favorable. Six thematic chapters ihcluding shopping, communication, working, family life.... The negatives included no chapter references to cross-check and no index.
