Council scraps plan for Gaelic primary school

PLANS for a Gaelic primary school in Skye which would see children travel 
miles from home for an English language education are set to be ditched, 
Scotland on Sunday has learned. 

Senior sources at Highland Council, which is consulting on proposals which 
would see Sleat Primary school made into a Gaelic-medium school, have said 
they believe it is "inconceivable" that the plan will go ahead because it 
would involve bussing children as young as four on 30 mile round-trips to a 
school in another part of the island.
