Call for Papers
The organisers invite submissions of abstracts for presentations at the 2nd 
International Conference on Language, Education and Diversity (LED 2007).  The 
conference is to be held 21-24 November 2007 at the University of Waikato, 
Hamilton, New Zealand.

The conference will focus on language and education, with particular reference 
to  addressing/accommodating diversity. Within this broad focus, there will be 
specific streams on: 


English language education (TESL/TEFL) 
Literacy education (both school and adult literacy) 
Bilingual/immersion education 
Language education planning and policy 
We welcome proposals for papers, colloquia and poster sessions.

Presentation Formats
Paper presentation – 30 minutes including 5 minutes for questions and answers. 
This is a lecture style presentation supported with visual material.  

Colloquium – 3 hours. This is an opportunity for several presenters with a 
related theme or topic to present together in a supportive environment. 
Colloquium will involve 4 – 6 registered participants. At least 15 minutes 
should be left for questions and audience interaction. It is the 
responsibility of the colloquium chair to organise their colloquium group. 
Colloquium abstracts should include a short paragraph on what each author will 
be presenting on and should be submitted by the colloquium chair. If your 
colloquium abstract is greater than 300 words, please contact the conference 
organiser.

Poster Session – This is a display of material on a poster (no more than two 
A1 sheets) with scheduled opportunities to discuss the material with 
interested individuals.

What to Present
Conference presentations should relate to the conference theme in some way, 
with a focus on the conference streams outlined above.

How to Submit
Abstracts are to be submitted online. Submissions open 10 July 2006.  

Submission Deadline Date
Final date for receipt of abstracts is 30 April 2007.

Refereed Conference Proceedings
A CD of refereed conference proceedings will subsequently be produced. 
Presenters wishing to submit their paper for inclusion on the official 
conference proceedings must do so by 3 March 2008. Further details about the 
conference proceedings will be placed on the conference website.
