Ministry blames teachers for ‘obscene’ book

THE Ministry of Education yesterday blamed secondary school teachers for their 
failure to detect “offensive language” in The Humming-Bird Tree, a secondary 
schools’ literature book by West Indian author Ian Mc Donald and, as it 
distanced itself from the publication, announced via press release that it was 
talking with schools on how to address the problem.
