Communicative Competence Revisited: Multilingual, Multicultural and
Multidisciplinary Perspectives

Proposals for papers (20 minutes) are invited for this one-day seminar on
Communicative Competence sponsored by the British Association of Applied
Linguistics, Cambridge University Press, and the School of Languages,
Linguistics & Culture, Birkbeck, University of London. The aim of the 
seminar is
four-fold:

- To evaluate the concept of Communicative Competence from a multilingual,
multicultural and multidisciplinary perspective
- To explore the relevance and applicability of the concept in an age of
gobalisation and fast changing information-communication technology
-To consider methodological issues in the study of Communicative 
Competence in
applied linguistics and other related disciplines
- To provide stimulus and create networks for future research projects on
Communicative Competence
