The American Association for Applied Linguistics 2008 Annual Conference
will be held in Washington, DC at the Omni Shoreham Hotel from Saturday,
March 29 to Tuesday, April 1, 2008. The Omni Shoreham Hotel is an historic
Washington landmark nestled on 11 acres in picturesque Rock Creek Park in
northwest Washington, DC just steps away from restaurants and cafes, the
metro, the National Zoo and other exciting attractions.

Nationally and internationally, the annual AAAL conference has a
reputation as one of the most comprehensive and exciting language
conferences. At AAAL new ideas are generated, disciplinary boundaries are
crossed and research is shared across a wide range of applied linguistic
domains of inquiry. This includes language policy, second language
acquisition, discourse analysis, reading, writing and literacy, language
and ideology, language pedagogy and many others.

The AAAL conference is known for its in-depth colloquia and paper
sessions, topical and thought-provoking plenary addresses and excellent
book exhibits. The AAAL conference is also a great place for networking
for established and new professionals in the field as well as for graduate
students.
