The University of Luxemburg invites applications for the following vacancy
in its Faculty of Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education a

Professor in Educational Sciences (Ref : F3-030038)

with emphasis on the development of schooling and its implications for
learning and teaching

The successful candidate holds a relevant doctorate (PhD), a post-doctoral
qualification (habilitation) or equivalent qualifications in research and
teaching either in the field of educational sciences or in cultural
psychology.
The profile is substantially grounded in situated educational theory and
process-oriented methodologies, that is cultural-historical and
socio-cultural theory, critical discourse analysis and/or systemic
approaches to institutional and professional development within teaching.

The successful candidate displays outstanding international expertise and a
proven record of research with regard to such areas as

€ synchronic and diachronic issues of schooling in connection with
challenges of migration and mobility, cultural and linguistic diversity as
well as societal changes in industrialised and post-industrialised
societies,
€ critical analysis of institutional and other public discourses about
schooling with regard to cultural variation, socio-economic development and
implications for knowledge building in particular regional/national contexts
on the one hand, and emerging challenges of the internationalisation of
education (e.g. standards, achievement, equity and access) on the other,
€ theories of learning and development with specific regard to the
interrelation between schools and the societal actors involved (children,
teachers, families).

Furthermore, the successful candidate will

€ be experienced in developing and managing research and study programmes,
€ bring along a proven record of teaching at all relevant academic levels
(undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate) as well as in the development of
experts and professionals in education,
€ be committed to the enhancement and implementation of research within the
University of Luxembourg Priority Research Programme P6 - Building
Excellence in Education.

The candidate will join the LCMI research unit (Language, Culture, Media and
Identities, http://www.lcmi.lu) which is committed to research on learning
and development with a particular focus on processes of learning and
teaching from a cultural-historical perspective. S/he will also be involved
in the design of new study modules in undergraduate and graduate programs in
educational sciences and teacher training.

As the candidate has to integrate into a multilingual research team, she/he
has excellent command of at least two of the following languages: English,
French and/or German (written and spoken).

The successful candidate will be invited to take up her/his position as soon
as possible.
