International Mother Language Day

Feb. 21 was proclaimed International Mother Language Day by UNESCO in November 
1999. This day is not so popular with people in general, though most of the 
member states of UNESCO officially observe it. Perhaps the day is unpopular in 
Korea, although the rush of international language learning and the celebrating 
of various international days seem to have become the style with the present 
generation of Korea.
