Talking a different language

THE Government plans to make foreign language lessons compulsory in England's 
primary schools.

Education Secretary Alan Johnson believes that all children should learn a 
language from the age of seven. This should happen as part of the curriculum 
overhaul in 2010.

The Observer visited Hatfield Heath Primary to see whether Year 6 pupils 
greeted this idea with shouts of "formidable!" or "sacré bleu!"
