Assistant Professor of TESOL

 

Position: Assistant Professor in the Department of Learning, Teaching and Curriculum. Tenure-Track appointment, 9-month.  Additional summer appointment for the next four years available. The Department of Learning, Teaching, and Curriculum seeks a bright, knowledgeable, and energetic Specialist in English Language Learning to work with internationally recognized, award-winning faculty in English Education and Literacy Education. Responsibilities: The TESOL Educator will primarily teach Graduate courses in her or his specialty; work with students and faculty in English and Literacy Education, and faculty across campus. The successful candidate will also serve as the Program Coordinator for the federally funded Title III grant, Project ELL-MO (English Language Learning in Missouri). The successful candidate will play a key role in building a nationally and internationally recognized TESOL program. The successful candidate must develop a research agenda in TESOL teaching and learning, publish scholarship, present at professional conferences, and secure external funding for research and development projects. The successful candidate will report to the Chair of Learning,

Teaching & Curriculum (LTC), a nationally ranked program, currently comprised of 28 tenuretrack and tenured faculty members, and over 100 doctoral students. 

 

Qualifications: The successful candidate must have an earned Ph.D. in TESOL or closely related field (will consider ABD); strong knowledge of research methods; an informed, broad conception of TESOL; and the ability to achieve state and national visibility through a clearly defined research agenda. Candidates will have successful teaching experience of at least three years. 

 

Salary and Benefits: This is a benefit-eligible, grant-funded position.  Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.  Appointment begins Fall Semester, 2008.
