Assistant Professor, Associate Professor  

 

The Graduate School of Education at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, a Research I institution, seeks a scholar in English Education. We welcome candidates with a strong interest in areas such as the teaching, learning, and uses of literature, writing, and multiliteracies in diverse contexts. The position will be a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with a start date of August 25, 2008. Program faculty currently focus their research on reading-writing relations, multimodal literacies/New Literacies, learners academically at-risk, and instructional practices in English education.  

 

Minimum Qualifications:

(A) An earned doctorate in English Education (or closely related field such as Adolescent Literacy); (B) A solid record of research and scholarly work commensurate with rank; (C) Experience in university and Grade 5-12 teaching; (D) Experience in a range of research methodologies; (E) For appointment at the Associate level, an established record of successful grant applications desirable.  

 

Completed applications must include a letter of interest, a curriculum vitae, a manuscript that reflects the applicant's scholarly work, and three letters of reference. Application review will begin after December 1, 2007, and will continue until the position is filled.
